German brands ask harder questions than most — about chromium VI, about supplier chains, about worker wages. We answer them with documents, not sales copy.
German buyers demand traceability at a level most markets never reach. When a Hamburg buyer asks which tannery pit our vegetable-tanned hides came out of, we can tell them, and email the LWG certificate the same afternoon. That's the pace of work German importers expect and it's the pace we run.
REACH, chromium VI and the LkSG supply chain law
Since Germany's Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz (LkSG) came into force, any brand selling into a company with over 1,000 employees needs documented human-rights due diligence in its upstream chain. We provide a supplier-chain map, wage records for our production floor, LWG audit reports for our tanneries, and third-party chromium VI test results under EN ISO 17075. This is the paperwork German buyers now request in the first quotation email — we send it before it's asked for.
Hamburg and Bremerhaven — which one and why
Hamburg is faster to Berlin, Bremen and central Germany; Bremerhaven is faster to Frankfurt and the south. We book based on your final destination, not on habit. Sea freight from Chittagong to Hamburg averages twenty-six to twenty-eight days on the direct Maersk/HMM services, twenty-nine to thirty-one on transshipment routes through Colombo or Singapore. We book direct when the timeline matters.
How German buyers give feedback (and why we like it)
German sample feedback tends to arrive as a numbered PDF: point 1, stitch spacing 3.2mm not 3.5mm, point 2, edge paint uneven at 4cm from the corner, point 3, hardware plating brighter than reference. Nothing personal, everything specific. We run the sample revisions the same way — a second sample within seven days addressing the numbered points exactly. It's a working culture that suits precision manufacturing.
Sustainability — beyond marketing claims
German consumers will pay a premium for sustainability that can be proven. We offer vegetable-tanned, chrome-free (wet-white) and metal-free tanned leather, all from LWG Gold or Silver rated tanneries. We can provide a supplier declaration on rewetted/recycled leather content and a rough kg-CO2e per finished piece if you're doing lifecycle claims on your product page. What we won't do is put a leaf on the hangtag without paperwork behind it.

FAQ
Germany buyers ask
Do you meet LkSG supply-chain requirements for German enterprise buyers?
Yes. We provide a documented supplier map (tannery → hardware → linings), current wage records for our production floor, third-party social audit reports (BSCI or SMETA) and LWG certification. This is exactly the pack German procurement teams need to satisfy their LkSG risk analysis.
What test reports come with a German shipment?
Chromium VI (EN ISO 17075), azo dyes (EN 14362), formaldehyde (EN ISO 17226), PCP, nickel release on hardware, and REACH SVHC declaration. Reports are from an accredited lab (Intertek or SGS) and sent as PDFs with the shipping docs.
